Wedding Day Timeline Tips

The flowers are picked, the cutlery is set and the dresses are fitted. Everything is finally in order and the day you’ve been waiting for is here. As you prepare to head out the door to the aisle, your photographer snaps the perfect candid shot of you adjusting your hair for the last time as a single lady. Walking down the aisle, arm in arm with your father, you see your handsome groom waiting. Tears fill his eyes and the moment is perfect.

For the day you’ve been dreaming of, photography can be made or broken, by how well you prepare ahead of time. A simple candid photo of you fixing your hair in the mirror can be a cherished memory. But the memory of going blind after the photographer took that iconic walk down the aisle shot? Not so much. But this is a day you’ll want to commemorate for years to come. So how can you make sure that the photography is exact?

Most photographers will tell you that perfect wedding photos boils down to setting a timeline and not rushing! This day, after all, wasn’t rushed by you and your partner. Working with your photographer should be no different. Creating the perfect plethora of images is a process that begins by sitting down with your photographer and creating a timeline of how you would like the day to flow and what shots are the most important to you.

Meet with the photographer in advance. Whether it be over a cup of coffee or a simple on the go video chat, make sure you set aside time to discuss with them what you are looking for. Give them the days itinerary and make sure to highlight what photos you would like to have the most. Keep in mind times of the day, such as golden hour, so that the shots you want look the best. Additionally, help the photographer out by making a list of who in your family or friends should be included in the photos. This makes sure that taking photos is stress free for you because you aren’t rounding people up and helps the photographer make sure the shots you want are taken.

When you meet with your photographer make sure to discuss the setting and feel you have in mind for the wedding. For instance, if wedding photos are to be taken at a separate location, the photographer needs to know in advance, and enough time should be given to accommodate this. Remember, this day is meant to be one of the best of your life! Not stressful and chaotic!

We recommend outside photos be included in your wedding photography and AT LEAST an hour be given to do shots of the bridal party. You have dresses to adjust, lighting to consider and groomsmen goofing about to get organized. These are photos you don’t want to rush!

When it comes to photos, our best piece of advice is to leave enough time for all the photos you can imagine wanting! It takes a little time to set up each group shot or to find the perfect lighting for those romantic shots of you and your man. By allowing for this, you’ll make sure that you and your bridal party aren’t stressed or frustrated in any way. By building time for photos into your intinary for the day you make the experience fun and avoid awkwardness for all involved.

Your wedding may be just one day, but the marriage is forever; and these photos should be something you’re proud to share for just as long.
